年來了 Nián Lái Le music video
We always enjoy their Chinese New Year album, every year, for years, until now. As usual... whenever it comes to Chinese New Year, M-Girls always comes first.
My personal review is, this is a special Chinese New Year album. Why special? Because, this is the first ever album that M-Girls made themselves, under their very own company, MG Entertainment. And, the songs they used for this Chinese New Year album are unusual, unlike some people covered Gong Xi Gong Xi and stuffs. They re-used these songs again since the have sung this song before when they were still little girls.
But... Only 10 songs. At least, they released an album this year than nothing at all. I expect more medleys coming up, though.
I didn't say much about this, so here comes the end of this post, and here's a message from me to all readers out there:
Please kindly support M-Girls by buying their original copies if you are a fan of the group.
So here's the post is about. Have a great day!
* What is 年 Nian?
Nian is a legend of the Horrible Monster / beast named "年 nian" which eats people alive on the Chinese New Year's Eve. This monster is afraid of all things colored in red, so for scaring this monster, everybody puts the red decorations in their houses. Streets are filled with music, loud drums, and fireworks all day long. And special paper lanterns are made in a variety of shapes and sizes, paraded through the streets to scare off any demons that might come.
In Chinese, the word for New Years is Guo Nian. Literally translated it means to "pass over Nian" or "overcome Nian". That is exactly what the people did. And that's why people in China believe the color red signifies luck, and that's why people make all kinds of noise on Chinese New Year's eve. It's to scare away evil spirits, and even Nian, just in case he's still hanging around.
In case you did not know, the lyrics of the song 年來了 (Nian Lai Le) also tells the story of this legend.
